Richard Serra.

On the london trip we went on i went to see Serra’s work in the Gagosian Gallery and i was immediately blown away by the sheer size of the works. These simple forms created such an impact in the space, they completely filled it and created such a sense of weight in the room. I was extremely inspired by his work, i felt completely engulfed by these steel sheets, i wanted to really push the extremes of size in my works. This show really put in perspective the size i wanted to work at, while i was interested in using a 10m roll of fabriano to print on, 10m wasn’t going to be enough engulf and alter the way the space is understood and how the viewer related to the works, so i wanted to work more so with the size and explore that as a means of transforming print into the expanded field.
