Diogo Pimentão.

I came across Pimentão on instagram and i was instantly struck by his sculptural forms. i originally thought that his work was folded steel, but i have come to find out that it is all graphite on paper which makes this all the more interesting. In his artist statement he says he doesn’t consider himself as a draughtsman in the traditional sense, but rather uses ‘iconic’ materials associate with drawing and expanding it using performance, sculpture and exploring 3D to alter a space. This runs perfectly inline with my aims with my own work. I want to take printmaking out of its traditional means and use it to explore how object can alter a space. I really enjoy the folded forms he has on the walls and want to explore paper in a similar way, really showing off a 3D form coming off the wall and creating shadow and depth.
