Yaacov Agam.

Agam, a leading member in kinetic and optical art pushes ideas in painting. By using a concertina like shape and using movement from the viewer, his work changes perception. his statement since 1964 has been “My intention was to create a work of art which would transcend the visible, which cannot be perceived except in stages, with the understanding that it is a partial revelation and not the perpetuation of the existing. My aim is to show what can be seen within the limits of possibility which exists in the midst of coming into being.”

While im not massively into op art, i find his work very interesting. I like how he has explored a changing visual. I also find it interesting how his ‘paintings’ are sculptural, using a concertina shape to bring his painting into a 3 dimensional plane. I also love his use of colour and positioning of colour on his objects, they all sit together and work so well.
